sad news...

Well, normally we are conveying fun stuff on this blog and it pains me to have to let you all know that Joan's Mom, Kay, Auntie Kay to a lot of us, passed away yesterday at the age of 93. All of us who knew her, loved her and will miss her. Visitation is Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 at the Newcastle Funeral Home. The funeral will be Wednesday March 3 at 2PM from the Newcastle United Church. To all of you who feel they wish to call in please feel free to do so. Joan needs all of our support at this very sad time.
It's sad to lose another pillar of our community. Kay was so active within ours. She was one we learned so much from and who we loved and respected. Kay was kind and supportive and loved her family even when Joanie was really trying her patience! Kay had an open door policy for all of us and I'm sure we all tried her patience many times but she never once showed it to us. She always welcomed you with that hearty laugh of hers, a funny story, and  wondering just what we might be getting up to today! I'm sure we all have many fun memories to share about Kay.
Kay was a staunch Liberal and made no apologies for that. She wore the colours proudly and never hesitated to let you know her true feelings whether it was local politics, provincial or federal. To-days politicians have no one to learn our history from, no one to teach them how to be statesman or stateswoman, no elders to help keep them on the right track and keep them honest.
It's the politicians and the communities loss. We are so much richer in our memories because of strong women like Kay Kimball
I could go on forever singing Kay's praises but one only has to look at her greatest achievement in life, Joanie, to know what a strong wonderful woman Kay Kimball really was. As has been said many times before, Kay will never be gone as long as Joan is alive. They truly are kindred spirits. Kay will be forever in our hearts.

Joan will not be working at the store all next week and I ask that she be given some space during this very sad time.
Thanks,
Wendy

I am just reading this today, March 5/10 from my hotel in Miami, Florida. Please accept my most deepest sympathy, hon. I have been away for a week, therefore am somewhat behind in the Newcastle news. I will see you at the store when I return or at good old T.D. when you drop in with your banking.

    thinking of you, Joan.
